Emerson J. Winchester is a nickname. My mom’s best friend gave it to me when I was a child. Some things are hard to give up, and nicknames from very dear people are one of them.

I am an only child who grew up on a farm. After living in a handful of different cities, I have come back to the country at this point in my life. From this place I practice law, work to improve the lives of children in my community, play soccer, enjoy the company of friends, and engage the world around me.

Aside from a great bottle of wine, one of my greatest pleasures is reading. A sampling of my favorites include: The Sun Also Rises, Don’t Stop the Carnival, West With the Night, Memoirs of a Geisha, A Salty Piece of Land, and Twilight.

I am a romantic at heart and look forward to a happily ever after. A dear friend gave me a quote that I pass on to you now: “Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale.” ~Hans Christian Andersen
